Project: Personalised Clocks

Using laser cutting and engraving techniques, I have designed and manufactured personalised clocks out of wood. These clocks are made to order based on customer requirements.

The clocks are typically made with the following materials:

• Baltic birch plywood for the clock base

• Quartz timepiece mechanism

• Clock hands generally made from wood, metal or plastic

• Colour finish can be untreated, stained/painted or using a wood effect material

How they are designed and manufactured:

1. Customer chooses or supplies a design specification including personalised messaging, branding etc.

2. The design is created in Lightburn and then approved by customer

3. Base colour finish is typically applied before cutting

4. Base clock piece is cut and engraved by laser engraver

5. Quartz timer is fitted along with the clock hands chosen by the customer

6. Clock is quality tested for 24 hours to ensure timer setting is correct
